The Department of Defense has announced that Sgt. William B. Meeuwsen, 03 of Houston was killed during combat in Iraq on November 23, 2005.

Meeuwsen was one of two soldiers killed when his unit came under fire near Baghdad.

Meeuwsen attended Texas A&M University for two years before joining the Army in 2002 and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife, Lauren, of Fort Bliss, his parents, Michael and Theresa Meeuwsen, of Kingwood and a sister, Christine Meeuwsen, 00, of Dallas.
