Capt. Lyle L. Gordon, 97, USMC, died January 26, 2005 in the crash of a CH-53E helicopter near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. Gordon was serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was assigned to the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.
Gordon graduated from Midlothian High School in 1993 and earned a bachelors in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in December 1999. He was a member of Company E-2 in the Corps of Cadets and is survived by his wife Kaci R. (Yates) Gordon, 00.
