Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why did you create this site?
A. Read the About This Site page for the answer.
Q. Are you only listing Aggies that served in the military in The Roll Call?
A. No. The military is the most visible part of the “War on Terror”, but there are many Aggies that are serving our nation in this conflict who are not in the military. Are Aggies who are building roads in Afghanistan making less of a sacrifice than those in uniform? I will do my best to include all Aggies who make the ultimate sacrifice for our nation during this war, military and civilian alike.
Q. Can I submit a small testimonial about one of the Aggies listed on The Roll Call?
A. Absolutely. Click on the “Submit Feedback” button at the bottom of any page to send me an e-mail. I’d be happy to take any pictures you have that I can add to the write-up for each listing, as well as stories you might have about personal experiences you had with that individual. You can send you messages of sympathy for the family as well. Just please keep it clean, non-political, and respectful. I will be review all comments and determine before posting them whether or not they are appropriate.
Q. Why don’t you allow us to just post our comments directly on the site?
A. I considered setting it up that way, but I really want more say over what gets posted. The last thing I want is for a family member to come to the web site and see a foul-languaged political rant posted on the page for their loved one. By reviewing all the comments first, I can make sure that doesn’t happen.
Q. So what constitutes whether or not a comment is appropriate?
A. In general, you should just use common sense. Cursing, racial slurs, sexual comments of any kind, religious bigotry -- all off limits. Also, let’s keep politics out of the picture. There are plenty of places on the web where you can express your views on the war or various political leaders and pundits, so I ask that you use those outlets for that kind of discussion. Just remember that this is designed to be a respectful remembrance of these individuals, and you’ll be fine.
Q. I submitted a comment/picture/story to you, but I haven’t seen it posted yet. Why not?
A. The reason could vary, but more than likely I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Please be patient with me. I am running this site in my spare time, and it may take me a day or two to get to your submission. The other possibility is that I may have rejected your comment as inappropriate -- please see the two questions above.
Q. Is there some way I can help these families who have suffered such a terrible loss?
A. There are several charitable organizations that assist families of service members who have died in the line of duty. I’m still looking for organizations that would help families of civilians who die while overseas. Please see the Support page for more info.
Q. How did you make this site?
A. I used iWeb from Apple. It is part of the iLife Suite. It comes free with every new Mac, or you can buy it at Apple’s online store.
